Sandakphu Trekking Expedition (Dec 2019)

As you would know, PARVAT BUDDIES successfully completed its first batch of Sandakphu Trekking in November 2018. Keeping in line with our motto of conducting safe and enjoyable trekking experiences, we proudly present to you our second batch for Sandakphu Trek (December 2019).



The Singalila mountain range is a ridge running in the North-South direction in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, adjoining the borders of India and Nepal. At 3636m, Sandakphu is the highest point of West Bengal and it offers mesmerizing views of four of the top five peaks in the world – Mt. Everest, Kanchendzonga, Lhotse and Makalu!!! EXPECTED TEMPERATURES:
The proximity to the Eastern Himalaya, makes this trek quite cold and windy. Weather in the mountains is always unpredictable and hence a  challenge in any Himalayan Winter Trek. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall during this trek.

The maximum temperature in the day time is expected to be around 7-9°C and the temperature during the night is expected to be between -5°C and 0°C.

These are just estimates to help you plan and prepare for the trek. Of course, we will be sharing a detailed checklist (the things to be carried for this trek) with our registered participants.


FOOD & ACCOMMODATION:
Meals constitute of Breakfast-Lunch-EveningSnacks-Dinner. Nutritious and healthy vegtarian meals would be served hot at all the campsites. Jain food can be made available on prior request. Any packaged foods, bottled water and extra beverages would have to be purchased at personal expense.

Owing to the extreme cold in the region, the accommodation in this trek would be in homestays/tea houses/lodges with basic facilities required by a trekker. The stay would be on a sharing basis. 


HOW TO REACH:
The nearest railhead for Maneybhanjan is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and the nearest airport is at Bagdogra (IXB). Both, the airport and the railway station are situated around the city of Siliguri, West Bengal. We can help you with your train/flight bookings from Mumbai to NJP/IXB at additional cost.

The journey from NJP/IXB to Maneybhanjan is roughly 80kms and it takes about 3-4 hours by road on a hilly terrain. On the way, we will try to cover a few places of sightseeing subject to availability of time and weather conditions. We will be arranging for your transport to and fro Maneybhanjan at an additional cost.

Dinner and Stay in Maneybhanjan.
Day 2: 21st Dec 2019 (Saturday)
Transfer to Tumling by Jeep.
Trek to Gairibas.
Day 3: 22nd Dec 2019 (Sunday)
Trek to Kalipokhri.
Day 4: 23rd Dec 2019 (Monday)
Trek to Sandakphu.
Day 5: 24th Dec 2019 (Tuesday)
Trek to Gurdum.
Day 6: 25th Dec 2019 (Wednesday)
Trek to Sirikhola.

Transfer to Maneybhanjan by Jeep.
Stay in Maneybhanjan.
Day 7: 26th Dec 2019 (Thursday)
Checkout after breakfast.
